BACK HOME

After our flight was rebooked to Munich and Klagenfurt at around 5 in the afternoon we met our French group. We had a pleasant drive back home and we had so much to talk about.
We would like to say thanks to the school managment, that supports our international work, to the families, who trust us with their children, to the host families who took good care of us in the past week and to the teachers, who organized a great programme for us.
We miss you already and we look forward to meet you on the 11th March 2010.

LAST DAY in France (GOING HOME)

We are leaving at 7.30 in the morning from the school.

MERCI France and le Collège des Bruyères et bon voyage.

We are safely back home. The passport was still waiting for us. We had lots of fun about it.
We were crying at the airport as never before because it was hard to say goodbye.

Day 7 in The Netherlands

We visited Leiden today and made some nice panorama pictures from the Burcht. Then we visited one branch of our school and had a lesson on Holland during world war 2. In the main building we filmed the Dutch part of the scientists and we worked on the Christmas powerpoints.
Tonight we had a BONTE evening!
We had our last ride with bicycles, we are packing our bags now and spending last minutes with our hostfamily. Tomorrow at 8.00 we take the train from Leiden Central to the Schipol Airport.

Day 7 in France

The last day to work all together in France.
During this day, pupils have to compare things in our two countries :

My country - your country (Meta / Chloé Ch.)
My flag - your flag (Petra / Laurie - Lara S. / Laura H.)
My town - your town ( Zala / Joanna - Tim / Jean)
My school - your school ( Lara / Laura - Katarina / Chloé S.)
My family - your family (Timotej / Nicolas - Mark / Alexandre)
My house - your house (Jan / Valentin - Charlotte / Evelina)

In the afternoon we filmed the interviews of French scientists -Georges CUVIER and Etienne OEHMICHEN. It was interesting. In the meantime our compatriot visited us at school. His name is Robert and he has been living in France for 28 years. He saw us on TV last night and we we were able to talk to him in Slovene. It was quite nostalgic.

We are now getting ready for FRIZOO's concert. She'll play the trumpet. Go Frizoo!!

After the concert we are going to have a party all together with lots of MUSIC. This is unfortunately the last day :(

We have made lots of interviews and photos for local media and guess what we'll be on TV tonight.
You will be also able to see it soon on the web site of the local TV by following this link :

I've seen children giving a thanksgiving kiss to Santa Claus. Tell us about it because the Slovenes aren't used to it. It's interesting.

In the comments, please, write also about what you did today. See you!

We had a very Christmas - like and science like day today. In Montbeliard there is one of the greatest and the most beautiful Christmas markets in France. You can see lots of very traditional things like biscuits, dried fruit, cheese, chocolate, souvenirs, decorations, We have seen the REAL Santa Claus on sledges but without deer but with horses. There is another traditional figure in December - TANTE AIRIE (Aunt called Airie). We talked to her and she gave us sweets. We also visited the museum in the castle which was very interesting. We learned much about the greatest French biologist Georges Cuvier.
We walked through a science park called Prés-la-Rose. That was something for our teacher Danica. Danica, what was your favourite thing there?
Pupils, tell us what you did after we separated at 4.30. What was your favourite thing during the day?

Scientists

Since 2009 is a year of astronomy, we will dedicate a part of our project to famous scientists of our region. Before we meet in the second week in December every group prepares 4 to 6 interviews with chosen scientists of their region/country in English. If they are still alive, you can try to get in contact with them and maybe they will personaly answer your questions ... if not use the internet or some books to find the answers to your questions. We would like to know some personall details about those people and of course we are highly interested in their work.
When we meet in December we will film your interviews - so study your scientists really good - that way you'll be really persuasive on the camcorder.
We wish you a lot of fun. In the comments of this post you can write your ideas, funny stories that happend during your research or put down some questions, that occured to you during your assignment! Teachers - you can publish the list of the scientists and help pupils with their questions!

You can find the list of slovene scientists HERE
